Tilburg: Doloris Meta Maze

Set out on a journey through Doloris Meta Maze in Tilburg. This is the original Doloris maze, designed and built by the Berlin based artist collective Karmanoia. You step into a world you do not simply observe, but truly experience. There is no fixed route and no right or wrong. You move at your own pace and choose your own direction.

 

Behind every passage, something new awaits. Objects that draw your attention, spaces that awaken your senses, and moments that gently disconnect you from everything outside the maze. There is nothing to solve or figure out. All you need to do is be present and allow yourself to be carried along.

 

Doloris invites you to leave the everyday behind and make space for wonder. Nothing more and nothing less than what you need in that moment.

Discover the unknown in Doloris Anoma Maze in Utrecht. This maze builds upon the experience in Tilburg and opens the door to an entirely new world. Not a repetition, but a universe of its own that you uncover step by step.

 

You follow your curiosity as you find your way through a network of corridors, stairways, and rooms. Sometimes you climb, sometimes you descend, sometimes you pause to take it all in. There is no fixed route and no final destination you need to reach. It is about the journey itself and what you encounter along the way.

Navigate to ‘ParkBee Parking Wisselspoor’, drive up to the barrier gate, scan the QR code and follow the steps. From the parking lot, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to Doloris Anoma Maze, via 2e Daalsedijk.

Doloris is a 15-minute walk from Utrecht Central Station and Utrecht Zuilen.

How long does the experience take?

Doloris Meta Maze Tilburg:
You can wander as long as you want. The estimated time is between 30 and 60 minutes.

 

Doloris Anoma Maze Utrecht:
You can wander as long as you want. The estimated time is between 60 and 90 minutes.

What is the price of a ticket?

Doloris Meta Maze Tilburg:
A ticket to Doloris Meta Maze ranges between €25 and €32, depending on the day of the week and time of year.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

You can purchase tickets at the check-in machines at our venue, but there may be a chance that there are no available timeslots. To avoid disappointment at the door, we recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance.

When can I not visit Doloris?

Please note that the Meta Maze and Anoma Maze are both individual experiences.

 

Doloris not accessible when you are:

  • pregnant
  • prone to epileptic seizures
  • physically and/or mentally unstable
  • in a wheelchair
  • under 12 years old
  • claustrophobic or have a fear of small, dark spaces
  • an anxiety disorder
  • under the influence of alcohol or stimulants
  • night-blind/see poorly in the dark

Doloris can be physically challenging. You explore Doloris by climbing and crawling, so you must not have a weak back or ankles. Inside, there are plenty of spaces to rest if you become tired.

 

Unfortunately, Doloris is not suitable or accessible for everyone. To enter the maze, you must be in good physical condition.

Is it scary?

The maze is a sensory experience that you explore at your own pace. The focus is on discovery and perception, not on fear. There are no actors and no moments designed to deliberately scare you. Some spaces are dark and, because you do not know what lies ahead, entering the maze can feel exciting or tense. This feeling comes from stepping into the unknown rather than from any intention to frighten you.

 

If you tend to feel uncomfortable in the dark or in smaller enclosed spaces, we recommend considering in advance whether this experience is right for you. Emergency doors and buttons are located throughout the maze. During check in, we show you how these work and explain how you can leave the experience early if needed.
